رائع الدرر ورائق الزهر في أخبار خير البشر
Critical edition of Ibn Fāris's Arabic text, with marginal fawāʾid drawn from Ibn Diḥya's commentary on the matn, alongside further ṭurar.
The text
Abū l-Ḥusayn Aḥmad Ibn Fāris al-Mālikī's collection gathers the traditions about the Prophet into a compact abridgement that the Islamic West read, copied and taught for centuries. It is that recension — the Maghribī riwāya — which serves as the basis here.
The margins
The edition does more than establish the matn: it restores the fawāʾid drawn from Ibn Diḥya's commentary, along with further ṭurar carried by the manuscripts. These annotations record how the text was received as much as what it states.
The establishment of the text
Collation of the witnesses, repair of corrupt passages, identification of implicit sources: the work follows the method a critical edition calls for, making the text open to discussion as well as legible.
